Privacy Policy — PlayStore APK Downloader
This extension collects no personal data1. What this extension does
PlayStore APK Downloader is a Chrome extension with a single purpose: downloading Android app packages (APK/XAPK) for free apps. You paste a Google Play link, a package name, or an app name; the extension finds that exact app's latest build and its list of older builds, shows the version and size, and downloads the build you select.
2. The short version
The extension has no accounts, no sign-up, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. It does not collect, sell, rent, or transmit your personal information to the developer or to any third party. Everything the extension remembers is stored locally in your own browser, on your own device.
3. Data the extension handles — locally only
To do its job, the extension handles the following information on your device only:
- What you type into the extension — a Play link, a package name, or an app name. It is used immediately to look up that app and is not sent to the developer.
- The address of the tab you are on — when you open the popup, the extension checks whether the current tab is a Google Play app page, so it can offer a one-click download of that app. The address is checked in the moment and is never recorded as browsing history or transmitted anywhere.
- App information from public app listings — app names, versions, file sizes and dates, read from the app-index services the extension queries, so it can display the available builds.
- Your recent-downloads list — the last 20 downloads (app package, file name, version, size and time), stored in Chrome's local storage on your device and shown back to you in the extension. It never leaves your device.
- Short-lived lookup caches — search and version results cached in the browser's session storage for a few minutes to make repeat lookups faster. This cache is cleared automatically when you close the browser.
4. Requests to third-party services
When you look up or download an app, your browser sends requests to the app-index and file-delivery services the extension uses — this is how the version list and the APK/XAPK file reach your device, just like visiting any website. Those requests contain only the package name you asked for; the extension adds no personal data to them. Like any website you visit, those services can see your IP address, and their own privacy policies apply to their services. You can see the exact domains the extension is allowed to contact in Chrome, under the extension's details → "Site access".
5. What the extension never does
- It does not collect names, email addresses, passwords, payment details, location, or contacts.
- It does not monitor your browsing activity, keystrokes, clicks, or the content of pages unrelated to a lookup you started.
- It does not run analytics, fingerprinting, or advertising code, and it contains no third-party trackers.
- It does not sell or transfer user data to third parties, use data for purposes unrelated to its single purpose, or use data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
6. Permissions, in plain language
| Permission | Why the extension needs it |
|---|---|
downloads | Saves the APK/XAPK file you selected to your Downloads folder (used for large files and as a fallback path), and removes a just-started download if the requested build turns out not to exist. |
storage | Stores your recent-downloads list and short-lived lookup caches, locally on your device only. |
tabs | Checks whether your current tab is a Google Play app page, opens the extension's full-page downloader, and — as a fallback — opens a lookup page in a background tab to read its version list when a direct request is blocked. |
scripting | Runs one small, read-only script, bundled with the extension, inside that fallback tab to extract the published version list from the rendered page. It never modifies pages and runs only on the lookup services. |
| Host permissions | Allow the extension to contact the app-index and file-delivery services it queries for the exact package you entered. These hosts are contacted only in response to your own lookup or download. |
7. Keeping and deleting your data
The recent-downloads list stays in your browser until entries fall off the 20-item list, you clear the extension's data, or you remove the extension — removing the extension deletes everything it stored. The session cache is deleted automatically when the browser closes. Because nothing is sent to the developer, there is no server-side copy of your data to delete.
8. Children
The extension is a general-purpose utility tool and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Changes that affect how data is handled will be reflected in the extension's Chrome Web Store disclosures at the same time.
